Debucher PBGVs

Vivien Phillips established the Debucher Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen kennel in 1995, following more than a decade involved with BGVs at Clipperdown Cottage. The Debucher affix quickly became well known in the UK and internationally for producing successful, breed-typical PBGVs and GBGVs. One of the kennel’s most notable achievements came in 1997 when Debucher C’est Ça (“Cedric”) became the first PBGV to win the Hound Group at Crufts and qualify for the Best in Show ring. Alongside success in the show ring, Vivien Phillips also played an important role in breed health research, working with veterinary specialists on the development of DNA testing for Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG) in PBGVs. In recognition of her contribution to the breed, she was awarded the Medal d’Honneur by the Club du Griffon Vendéen in France in 2015.

Debucher C'est Ca gained his second CC at Blackpool under judge Geoff Place and his title at South Wales Kennel Association under judge Jean Lanning. He was to date, the only confirmed champion in the breed in the UK that year. The first Debucher champion following on from a long line of champions bred at Clipperdown from the Jomil breeding.
