Puppies

We are family breeders who are continuing our original lines established in the 1970s. As a result of this, we occassionally have puppies available to only the very best homes.

We do not have any older dogs or puppies to rehome (they are our family and all ex-breeding dogs will stay with us for life!)

We encourage all prospective owners to properly research the breed they are interested in before fully committing. We will only home puppies to the best possible homes, and all interested will be questioned and vetted.

We ask that all prospective owners come to visit our puppies with their mother before they are able to reserve one. Whilst we do not own all the stud dogs who are the fathers of our puppies, we occasionally use those belonging to friends and fellow experienced breeders, from top show kennels, and provide full transparency on who the stud is, offering prospective owners the opportunity to contact the stud owner if they so wish.

Our puppies are all registered with the Kennel Club, and come with all the necessary paperwork.

All puppies will go to their new homes microchipped and registered and fully vaccinated; this means we keep the puppies until they are 10 weeks or older. They are all raised in our home, and are well socialised with children, adults and other dogs. You will receive a deposit contract, puppy ownership contract, vaccination and health record, pedigree, luxury puppy care pack, a supply of your puppy’s food and full puppy information pack to help them settle in their new home.

As we are small, family breeders, we do not have a litter at all times, and there is currently a waiting list for all Wire-Haired Dachshunds. We also are unable to guarantee when our next litter will be, as we only breed to continue our lines. Our dogs are all our family pets and we will only breed from dogs free of health and temperament problems.

Please note:

  • We only breed puppies that are recognised breed standard colours and we do not take colour requests. This is because we cannot guarantee what colour puppies will be.

  • We do not breed Dachshunds with dilute colours of Isabella, Blue, and Cream (this is only recognised in Long-Haired Dachshunds). We also do not breed Dapple Coloured Dachshunds.

  • We do not home puppies over the Christmas period- any puppies that reach 10 weeks old during this period will be allowed to go to their new homes in the new year- a dog is for life, not just for unwrapping on Christmas Day!*

  • We currently are not planning on breeding a GBGV litter in the near future, and we have a minimum wait of 18 Months for Miniature Wire Dachshunds.

FAQs About our puppies

  • Every single one of our dogs and their offspring are registered with the Royal Kennel Club under our famous “Clipperdown” (Dachshunds) or “Debucher” (BGVs) affixes. We have been breeding from our own lines for many generations now- all puppies will come with a five generation pedigree, which actually goes further back than just five! We love talking about our lines and the history behind our dogs, and love when people show an interest in this!

  • In short- NO. Our lines have been carefully built for generations, using expertise and health testing at the forefront of every mating decision we have ever made. As a result of this, we are very protective of our lines, and all our puppies are sold on non-breeding contracts, and endorsed with the Kennel Club. On the rare occasion that we allow someone to breed, they are usually Championship level show exhibitors with similar expertise and experience to us, and are choosing to breed for the right reasons- to preserve our beloved breeds. Anyone wishing to breed from our dogs must have proven dedication to the breed, and this usually is indicated by years of effort in campaigning the breeds concerned, taking part in health research, and having proven success at shows.

  • We are proud of the fact we are not commercial/ volume breeders. All of our litters are carefully planned months, and sometimes even years and generations in advance, and we will only have a litter when we want to improve the breed, and continue our lines. As a result of this, we very rarely have more than one litter a year- sometimes even less than this.

  • Due to our reputation, and the fact we have very few litters, we always have a waiting list for our puppies. However, our waiting list is not managed on a first-come-first-serve basis. What matters most to us is the suitability of an applicant for one of our dogs, not how early they applied. We move people up and down our waiting list all the time for various reasons. The first is the quality of an application- if someone has clearly taken a lot of time and effort to fill out a form, and has clearly done their research, they will have a better chance of having one of our puppies. We HATE one-word answers! Your application is usually the first impression we have of you, so make it count! The second reason is a clear dedication to our dogs- we believe people should take time to research the right breeder for them- if you have applied to many breeders just to increase your chances of getting a puppy, then you are not the right people for us. We love it when people specifically WANT a Clipperdown/ Debucher puppy because they like our ethics, reputation and practices. Some people have waited over a year for the right puppy from us! We also love it when people check in on us for updates and ask lots of questions- if you show a constant interest in our dogs, then we will notice you! Finally, if we have not heard from you in a while, we will assume you are no longer interested- so make sure you stay in touch!

  • Yes- all our dogs have undergone the required health tests for their breeds, or will do once age appropriate. If our dogs have not been health tested, this is because they are hereditarily clear of these diseases (their parents/ grandparents had been tested) and therefore it was not required for them to be tested.

  • Even after they leave us- our dogs remain family to us- and you become part of that too! To show our dedication, we offer a lifetime care guarantee meaning we are available 24/7 for your dog’s entire life for health or general advice. (We even have puppy WhatsApp groups to share updates and arrange meet-ups with your dog’s siblings!) Some of our dogs even come back to stay with us when their owners are on holiday. We also have a clause in our contracts that states that, if you can sadly no longer keep your dog (at any age and for any reason), you must bring them back to us to ensure they will never end up in the wrong hands or in a rescue. Because when we breed, we have a responsibility to ensure every single one of our dogs gets the life they deserve, no matter how old or young. Ethically bred dogs NEVER end up in a shelter.
